YOGA History
I’ll never forget my first asana class. I was a wild-spirited 8 year old with loads of energy and an open mind, ready to explore the world. I walked into a community center ready to tackle each posture with power and force. But when we got to savasana and the teacher gently placed a penny on my forehead… my external world stopped and this silent, internal flame lit.
I continued my yoga journey through college, but was mainly focused on the physical dimension of the practice. It wasn’t until sustaining an injury after marathon running that my true path to inner yoga began. Each exercise that my physical trainer prescribed was something I had found through yoga before. When my body demanded rest, I was catapulted inward and began to truly understand the full yogic path— far beyond what asana alone can bring.
I completed my first 200 hour training at Bella Vida Yoga in Florida, USA and continued my studies with my 300 hour training at Yoga Vidya Mandiram in Rishikesh, India. I am forever grateful for the blend of Western and Eastern perspectives that my teachers have gifted me over the years. Since then, I have spent over 500 additional hours in specialized trainings across the world, honing my craft to better serve my community.
